Costs

In accordance with the Royal Decree of 10 April 2025, which came into force on 1 January 2026, Monument Assurance Belgium is required to publish the costs of third-pillar products.

Entry costs: 1.5%

This is the maximum cost calculated on all net premiums paid.

Recurring costs: 0.80%

This is the maximum annual cost, calculated at a rate of 1/52th per week.

The costs are borne by the investment fund and are automatically deducted from the unit value.

Occasional charges

Surrender charges amount to 4% of the policy value during the first year following policy issue. They then decrease by 1 per cent per year. From the fifth year onwards, no surrender charges are applied.

No surrender charges are applied in the event of the insured person’s death.

Monument Assurance Belgium may charge fees for:

  • checks to determine whether the insured person is still alive;
  • searches for beneficiaries.

These fees may not exceed 5% of the insured benefits, up to a maximum of €200.

Taxes

Premiums paid are subject to a 2% tax.

The policyholder is not entitled to any tax relief on the premiums paid.

From the 1st January 2026, a 10% tax will be applied to capital gains realised on certain financial products, in particular upon surrender or redemption of the capital of certain life insurance policies whilst the insured is still alive.
